A suspected incidence of FMD has been reported from Kattappana 

Panchayeth, Idukki.  One cow and a three month old calf are 

affected.Containment vaccination advised in and nearby 

panchayeths. Initial reports show that the animals are unvaccinated.

Cattle Insurance Scheme

As the implementation of new cattle insurance scheme for the current year is getting delayed, M/s United India Insurance Company agreed to extend the insurance cover for cattle at the same rates of premium as applicable for the Gosuraksha Scheme, ie 3.04% for 1 year & 6.90 for 3 year policies.
